    Originally from San Diego, California, but currently reside in Godfrey, Illinois located 5 minutes from the Missouri and St. Louis border . Is a mother and married to a wonderful husband and father. Trained CAPPA Labor Doula, childbirth educator, postpartum doula, WIC Breastfeeding peer counselor and training in massage therapy helps with comfort techniques during labor. In 2010, I had the honor to receive a Masters degree in Public Administration and Policy Analysis with an emphasis in health care policy and management. Further, I received a Bachelors of Science in Sociology. I not only have training and experience working with families, but I have personal experience with giving birth via natural vaginal, emergency and planned cesarean and in November 2011 successfully completed a Vaginal Birth after 3 Cesareans (VBA3C).

    Marika is an editor of the TFB Resource Guide. She also authors her blog marikaautrand.com, where she writes about motherhood, education, and creativity. After studying English literature and Art History at Rutgers University, Marika continued her studies at Rutgers and completed her Masters in English Education. She started teaching seventh grade English five years ago. While pregnant and exploring her options for childbirth, Marika became an advocate for birth choice. She believes that every woman should have access to quality information about pregnancy, birth, and feeding options. She lives in New Jersey with her daughter and husband.

    Chynna is an editor of the TFB Resource Guide. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned degrees in Gender/Women’s Studies, Communication Arts, and American Indian Studies. She is a working class feminist from rural Wisconsin who believes quality healthcare should be accessible to all. With a passion for maternal health, Chynna is studying to be a birth doula.
